Hammonassett Beach State Park May 26, 2023

Hammonassett Beach State Park is a picturesque coastal retreat located in Madison, Connecticut. Stretching across 918 acres, this state park offers a stunning blend of natural beauty, diverse ecosystems, and recreational opportunities. The park’s centerpiece is its two-mile-long sandy beach, which provides a perfect setting for swimming, sunbathing, and beachcombing.

Sunrise at Hammonassett State Park campground. Because the ocean is so close it can get very wet with dew. You can’t leave anything out to dry.

Beyond the shoreline, visitors can explore a variety of habitats, including salt marshes, grassy dunes, and woodlands. The park features several walking and hiking trails that wind through these ecosystems, allowing nature enthusiasts to observe an array of plants, wildlife, and migratory birds.

Meigs Point is at the end of the beach trail. Great desination for a bike ride. The Meigs Point Nature Center provides educational exhibits and programs.

There are over 500 campsites available. Most are in open space with no shade. This means you can add about 10 degrees to the inside temperature of your tent. Most people have RVs with A/C. Not a problem for them.
