I like the ocean. Not being on it, not walking along side it, but being in it. I’ve been a year round surfer in New England. I like everything about the New England seacoast. The beaches, the food, the seacoast villages, the fishing ports, and the profound sense of meaning that comes from finding myself at the intersection of the earth, the sea, and the sky.

Outdoor recreation feeds body and soul.
I enjoy outdoor recreation in many forms. I also enjoy technology. Put the two together and we have this website.
Things I Like
- Camping: I’ve camped my entire life. First as a Boy Scout. This is where I learned the skill. Second as a fun way to travel and travel cheaply. Third as a Boy Scout again as I volunteer at a Boy Scout camp one week a year.
- Biking: This is my primary source of exercise and favorite mode of travel. I live in Boston and ride my bike most everywhere.
- Photography: I’ve enjoyed photography most of my life. I had a studio for a time. I teach Photography Merit Badge as a volunteer at my Boy Scout summer camp. These days my only camera is my iPhone and it does a good job.
- Video: I enjoy shooting video of my travels. I have a nice camera setup for my bicycle and record my biking adventures.
- Technology: I’ve enjoyed computer technology since I wrote my first COBOL program in 1977. It’s been a great journey since then and some of this website uses AI.
Background
I wanted to be an accountant. Like my father. But computers came along and sidetracked those plans. Living in Boston at the time I found opportunities in developing software and supporting computer technology.
